San Diego Automotive Museum: Gallery with 95 High-Res Photos

Balboa Park is one of San Diego's most visited tourist attractions. And if you like cars, you should definitely check it out, because the Automotive Museum houses more than 80 historic cars and motorcycles. As if that wasn't enough, special exhibitions, held every two or three months, display other fine vehicles.

The initial idea of creating an automotive museum in Balboa Park came from Briggs Cunningham, a famous car collector and racer. Final approval by the San Diego City Council was granted in 1980, but the museum finally opened its doors eight years and a $1 million renovation later.

The list of permanent "residents" features exquisite automotive jewelry like the 1935 Ford Slantback, 1936 Studebaker, Jaguar XK-140, 1948 Tucker Torpedo, 1965 Ferrari 275, 1969 FIAT 500 and many more. Check out the photos we took at the museum in the gallery below.
