2007 Peugeot 207 CC - Paris preview with the 207 e - pure Concept

Take out the 70's inspired white coloured leather interior and the "Kermit the frog" floor mats of the 207 e - pure concept and here you have it: the 2007 Peugeot 207 CC. Pug's second generation compact Coupe-Cabrio is of course based on the new 207 and like its predecessor, the 206 CC, it features a two-piece electric folding roof. The actual production model will most probably make its premiere at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show in March, with sales commencing in Europe latter in the year.

Fuel-Cell Tech: As Peugeot decided not to make any design differentiations -apart from the weird coloured interior, the French are justifying the 207 e - pure's concept nature by equipping it with an experimental fuel-cell powertrain. According to Peugeot, the 207 e - pure uses a newly designed GENEPAC fuel cell. The principle of this new cell, featuring a technology Peugeot calls PEMFC (Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell) is based on the use of thin, stamped stainless-steel plates which reduce the cost and volume of the cell compared to traditional plates.

Five cylinders containing 3 kg of hydrogen compressed to 700 bar provides the electric motor and the "lithium-Ion" battery with as much extra power and range as possible. They are located at the bottom of the vehicle's boot, which frees up the two rear seats, does not affect the operation of the retractable roof mechanism and leaves part of the boot available for use in the coupe position.

Paris Show : 2007 Mercedes CL 63 AMG 525 Hp & 0-62mph in 4,6 sec

Mercedes came out today with the official release of the 2007 CL 63 AMG. Under the bonnet is an AMG engineered 6.3-litre V8 engine that delivers a maximum output of 386 kW/ 525 hp and 630 Nm of peak torque. The CL 63 AMG is propelled from 0-100 in just 4.6 seconds, with top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h. Not bad at all for a vehicle of this size and weight but, on the other hand, doesn't that defy the whole concept of a sport vehicle even if luxury is added to the equation? Of course, I doubt it if that will stop any of those wealthy folks from buying clearly as a status symbol.

Luckily, in addition to the AMG bodystyling and the AMG sports suspension based on Active Body Control, the AMG high-performance braking system is also fitted as standard as is the PRE-SAFE, the anticipatory occupant protection system. The later and may be supplemented by the addition of both the innovative new PRE-SAFE Brake and DISTRONIC PLUS as an option. Well, we wouldn't want to scare any of those folks I mentioned before with all that power and mass would we now...

Paris Show : Kia pro cee'd Concept previews next years 3d sport hatch

Surprise, surprise... Kia revealed the first images of its latest concept car that is scheduled to debut at the Paris Motor Show later this month. Named pro cee'd, it's based on the new C-Segment (VW Golf, Opel Astra, Ford Focus, Peugeot 307 etc) Cee'd and it previews next year's 3d version.

"Following on from the original cee'd concept car we exhibited at the Geneva Show earlier this year, our design brief for pro cee'd was to create a teaser for the all-new Kia cee'd sporty hatch which will become the third model in the cee'd line-up (after the five-door and wagon) from December 2007," explained Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer Kia, European Design Centre.

Have to admit that the Koreans did quite a good job on designing the pro cee'd and especially its rear end which has a hint of Audi in it -ok, it shouts out loud Inglosandt... Although we wont' ever see the chunky 265/30 R19 low profile tyres or the dramatic 4seat interior, lets hope that this time, Kia will remain much closer to the concept than it did with the 5door Cee'd when the 3door version goes in production next year.

Paris Show Cars Videos : 2007 Citroen C4 Picasso

The "extra-terrestrial" C-Metisse might gather most of the flashes in Citroen's Paris stand, but when the show's lights close, this is the one that'll get all the attention. And why shouldn't it? The C4 Picasso has its own signature styling that sets it apart from most of the other euro MPV's like the boxy VW Touran and Ford C-MAX, without compromising on interior space. Apart from the 7seat edition shown in the video, the C4 Picasso will also be available in a 5seat version with different rear end styling (see more here: C4 Picasso 5S Scoop)

Paris Show : 2007 Kia Cee'd Sport Wagon

Two out five for Kia who decided to unveil the second version of its European designed, engineered and made, Cee'd. The estate-bodied Cee'd sport wagon follows the 5door hatch Cee'd and a sporty 3door hatch prototype called pro_cee'd, all of whom will make their debut at Paris. Read about Kia's futu
re plans here : 3door, Coupe-Cabrio, GTi & Station versions

Press Release : Due to go into full production in the middle of 2007 and on sale throughout Europe from next September, the vehicle is the next in Kia's European-designed, European-engineered cee'd line-up to be built at the Zilina factory in Slovakia.

The 4.470 mm long, 1.490 mm high, car features a tailgate shaped like an inverted "L" with its hinges set back over the load area so the tailgate rises almost vertically, giving enhanced access to the large-capacity cargo area that has additional storage below the floor.

The vehicle has the same 2650 mm wheelbase as the five-door hatchback cee'd that makes its world premiere in production-ready form at the Paris Motor Show and goes on sale in Europe from December 2006. When the new model goes on sale next September, customers will be offered an extensive choice of five engines, three trim/equipment levels and 12 exterior colours.

2011 Audi A1 1.4 TFSI

Details with the sportiest version of the A1, called the 2011 Audi A1 1.4 TFSI have just been released.

Interestingly the range topping 2011 Audi A1 1.4 TFSI is not called the S1, so this might indicate there is something else planned for the S1 badge.

The 2011 Audi A1 1.4 TFSI uses a 1.4-litre turbocharged and supercharged unit delivering 185 HP (136 kW) and 250 Nm (184.39 lb-ft) of torque that helps the sporty mini accelerate from 0 to 100 Km/h in 6.9 seconds.

The 2011 Audi A1 1.4 TFSI has a top speed of 227 Km/h (141 mph) and needs 5.9-litres of fuel to cover 100 Km (38.87 mpg US rating). CO2 emissions are of 139 grams per Km (223.7 g/mile).

The 2011 Audi A1 1.4 TFSI price starts at 24,250 Euro and some of the standard features include perforated front brake discs, ESP and and electronic limited slip differential

Audi press release :

The Audi A1, the premium car among the small compacts, has been a major success following its market debut. And now Audi is presenting the new top version - the A1 1.4 TFSI (136 kW). Its taut chassis provides sporty handling, while the dual-charged 1.4 TFSI delivers 136 kW (185 hp) of power and the S tronic dual-clutch transmission comes standard. The A1 1.4 TFSI (136 kW) also impresses with groundbreaking efficiency, consuming on average just 5.9 liters of fuel per 100 km (39.87 US mpg), which corresponds to CO2 emissions of just 139 g/km (223.70 g/mile) (provisional figures). The A1 1.4 TFSI (136 kW) has a confident appearance. The single-frame grille, the striking roof arch, the flat C-pillar, the wrap-around engine hood and luggage hatch and the tornado line show its sporty potential even when it is at a standstill.

The A1 1.4 TFSI (136 kW) has a compact, lightweight engine with four valves per cylinder. This produces an impressive 136 kW (185 hp) and 250 Nm (184.39 lb-ft) of torque. The sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) takes just 6.9 seconds, and the top speed is 227 km/h (141.05 mph) (performance figures are provisional).

The spontaneous response and high propulsive power, even at high speeds, are achieved thanks to its special concept - a combination of supercharger and turbocharger.

The supercharger springs into action at 1,500 rpm and in most situations is disengaged at 2,400 rpm. From 3,500 rpm at the latest, the turbocharger does all the work. Because it doesn't have to do as much work at the low end of the rev range, the developers were able to use a large turbo and design it for high efficiency.

The 1.4 TFSI combines efficiency and dynamics. It uses on average just 5.9 liters of fuel
per 100 km (39.87 US mpg) and emits 139 g CO2 per km (223.7 g/mile) (consumption figures are provisional). These excellent numbers are the product of the FSI concept, the dual charging system and also technologies from the modular efficiency platform.

The standard seven-speed S tronic transmission directs the power of the 1.4 TFSI to the front wheels. The high-end transmission is very short and light. The seven-speed S tronic is composed of two transmission structures which are operated by two multi-plate clutches. The shifting process takes place in just a few hundredths of a second and with no detectable interruption of pulling power. The tall seventh gear reduces fuel consumption.

The McPherson construction at the front and the torsion-beam rear suspension with separate springs and dampers form the basis for agile handling.

The Audi A1 1.4 TFSI (136 kW) turns in spontaneously, takes corners quickly and stably, and accelerates out of them with sure-footed grip. The brakes have the potent performance under control. The ventilated front discs measure 288 millimeters (11.34 in) in diameter.

Another specialty that comes standard for the chassis is the ESP stabilization program with electronic limited slip differential. When the system detects an impending loss of traction at the inside wheel during fast cornering, it initiates very brief braking of that wheel.

There is a comprehensive range of equipment. The safety package comprises two front airbags, thorax/pelvic side airbags and curtain head airbags. Belt tensioners and belt force limiters plus the Audi integral headrest system round out the package. Isofix child seat anchor points in the rear are standard.

Many of the options come directly from the luxury class. These are the xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running lights, the LED tail lights, the LED interior lighting package, the high-beam assistant, the light and rain sensor, the panoramic sunroof, the convenience key with the start-stop button, two navigation systems and a 465 watt Bose surround sound system with 14 speakers. Finally, manual and automatic air conditioning systems plus heated front seats are optionally available.

The Audi A1 1.4 TFSI (136 kW) will be launched toward the end of the year at a price of 24,250 Euro. In addition to S tronic, its standard specification contains a wide range of highlights: Ambition equipment line, 17-inch wheels, S line exterior package, manual air conditioning, additional mono.pur colored interior elements, black headlining and the LED interior light package.
