In 1970 Oldsmobile gave a face-lift their to Cutlass line up, adding a new and unique roof line to the Supreme coupe.
The Cutlass is arguably the most popular car Oldsmobile ever produced. Introduced in 1962 as a deluxe version of the F-85 launched the previous year, it was an instant success. The small, unit-bodied F-85 cars were replaced after the 1963 model year, making way for the new full-frame A-body in 1964.
Sharing it's chassis, suspension, floors, and many other structural components with the other A-body cars that included the Pontiac Tempest/LeMans, Chevrolet Chevelle/Malibu, and the Buick Special/Skylark. All enjoyed success thanks to great styling, and a huge list of options and engine choices.
In 1968 the A-body cars were updated, and this third generation of Cutlass cars were produced through the 1972 model year. The two door model's wheelbase was increased to 112 inches. Rounded and less angular styling was used in 1968 and 1969. A fastback roof design was unique to Cutlass in these years, and set it apart from the other A-body cars.
